The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir is made up of staff from across the NHS workforce, including hospital and community staff.
Following a wave of public and media support, and some kind words from their chart rival Justin Bieber who tweeted his fans encouraging them to buy the single, they reached the much coveted Christmas No 1 spot in 2015 with their single; A Bridge Over You.
In 2016 the choir appeared at the Glastonbury Festival, opening the legendary Pyramid stage, performed at the FA Cup Final and the Royal Albert Hall. They also released their debut album; "Something Inside So Strong" and have since performed, and collaborated with many well-known artists including: Squeeze, Boy George, Elbow, Matt Goss and Reef.
The choir is non-political and its members all record and perform in their own time with any royalties, or fees, donated to charitable funds at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Trust's charitable funds support initiatives which sit outside normal NHS provision and which improve staff and patient experience.
