James and Clare, from Choirs With Purpose, contacted The Cystic Fibrosis Trust to see if it was possible to create a choir of young people who suffer from this chronic condition. What they didn't know at first was the impossibility of Cystic Fibrosis sufferers meeting in person, because of the very great risk of cross infecting one another with bacteria that they carry and causing life threatening infections.
Not ones to let go of an idea, the team put an ambitious plan in place to build a unique virtual choir in the recording studio. It seemed even more poignant to tackle the isolation this condition causes and show the true "Stand Together" spirit that Choirs With Purpose is all about, giving each group a voice to express their message. Forming a ‘virtual’ choir, in which the members sing separately and interact online, is not only fun and uplifting, but forms a real connection between people who can appreciate each other's struggle.
